I wonder what Chris was trying to forget. But all of that new information doesn’t make our lives any easier. The mind loves feeding on new facts and ideas to chew like a dog on a bone. If anything, we want to forget everything we know. Sometimes we just don’t want any new information.

But what we do have the ability to do is to practice the skill of non-reaction and non-resistance. The more we try to forget about it the more it lingers with us. It’s like we don’t have the ability to stop the poisonous mental content from arising. We won’t look back.” We all try not to do this but it’s difficult. It seems like no matter how hard we try, we can’t forget about them. So often we get those unwanted thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere just to torment us. I’d rather have absolutely no expectations and no idea what I’ll find. They’re not stressed or anxious like big city people. It’s nice to watch regular people go about their business. I also like to drive through small towns. Forget about fancy organized tours where everyone is taking the same pictures. Just get on a random bus and take it all the way around and back again, or get off somewhere and get another one.
